V-neck Linen Jumpsuit – Review of McCalls M7788

V-neck Linen Jumpsuit – Review of McCalls M7788

This project was a little bit of a queue hopper with a large dose of #sewfrosting. If you haven’t heard of the Sew Frosting challenge hosted by Closet Case Patterns and True Bias, you should go check it out right now. This challenge is to sew something that’s completely for fun and not practical, hence the frosting. They had noticed that in their own sewing they were making a lot of things that were very useful but had lost some of the joy in making. I totally understand this sentiment and found it really inspiring. I have a ton of patterns and fabric in my stash that would fall into the frosting category and it’s high time that I actually use them. Hence, this totally impractical but totally awesome jumpsuit.

Review of the Collins Top by In The Folds

Review of the Collins Top by In The Folds

A few months ago, the lovely and talented Emily from In The Folds sent me a printed copy of her Collins Top pattern. Emily and I have exchanged patterns in the past and I’ve always loved sewing (and wearing) her designs. Emily ran a very successful Kickstarter campaign last year to jumpstart the printed pattern side of her business and it’s been exciting to see her journey. The Collins Top is part of my Make Nine list for the year so it was a bit of serendipity that Emily offered to send me the pattern.

The printed pattern is really beautiful and very well designed. It comes in a large color printed envelope with an instruction booklet and a folded printed pattern. The paper for the printed paper is a nice light weight, much sturdier than tissue paper but not too thick. As always, the instructions are very clear with excellent illustrations. There is also a sewalong on the In The Folds blog with more tips and photos. Make sure to check it out too.

StyleMaker Fall Tour – Esme Cardigan

StyleMaker Fall Tour – Esme Cardigan

Hi friends! Today is my stop on the Stylemaker Fabrics 2018 Fall Style tour. I participated in the tour a couple of years ago so I was thrilled and honored when Michelle asked me to participate again. Stylemaker Fabrics has an amazing (and huge) selection of high quality fabrics in a variety of fibers and prints. It’s expertly curated, organized by color AND they have a bunch of new fabrics specifically selected for Fall/Autumn. Make sure to check out the new fabrics and read on to see the fabric I selected and what I made with it.
