Patti Pocket Skirt Blog Tour

Patti Pocket Skirt Blog Tour

Today is my stop on the Patti Pocket Skirt Blog Tour. The Patti Pocket skirt by Amy Nicole is designed for petite women. So, you might be wondering why I’m decided to take it on. Well, Amy sent me a really nice email and asked if I would show how the pattern can be used even if you’re not petite. (I’m 5’11” so definitely not in the petite range at all.) The thing I love most about sewing is that it can be adapted for all body types. As an advocate (is that the right word?) for the #sewingtall community, I’m really happy to see that there are also people promoting sewing for petites.

Blog Tour – A Beginner's Guide to Sewing with Knitted Fabrics

Blog Tour – A Beginner's Guide to Sewing with Knitted Fabrics

A few months ago Wendy Ward asked me if I’d like to review her latest book, “A Beginner’s Guide to Sewing with Knitted Fabric” as part of a blog tour. And of course I jumped at the chance. The first print run of the book sold out so the blog tour was postponed a few months until there would be more books in stock. It’s no surprise that the book would sell out because knit fabric is notoriously tricky to work with. A book like this is a must read for anyone looking to start sewing with knits. But even if you have experience sewing with knits, this book is well worth purchasing because it’s packed with awesome patterns.

Black Sweatshirt Dress – Lou Box Dress 1

The sweatshirt is one of those pieces that you never you knew you always needed. Warm and roomy, it’s the height of comfort. I love to wear a sweatshirt dress over leggings. It’s the perfect weekend outfit. For this one, I used one of my own patterns, the Lou Box Dress 1. This dress is a cocoon-style oversized dress. I did a little mish-mash of the views and used the sleeves from View A and the patch pockets from View B.
