Today's make is the Maggie swim top by Seamwork. I know, it's not exactly "in season" for November (in the Northern Hemisphere) but I needed to share it before I forgot all the details. I made this swim top last month to take on a trip to Hawaii. The trip was lovely, very covid safe (thank you vaccines!) and this swim top was a favorite. I've made a fair number of swimsuits over the years and probably have a 50/50 success rate. So, I was really glad that this one works. Read on for all the details, and at the end of the post I share my top five tips for sewing swimwear.
DIY Gathered Waist Dress – Miri Tank Top Pattern Hack
Hello sew-friends! Today, I'm happy to bring you another Miri Tank hack! A couple weeks ago, I shared the Square Neck Button Back hack and today, I have a gathered waist dress for you. I'm often wary of gathers and ruffles but I really like how they've turned out in this dress. It feels weird to say, but I actually like it more than I thought I would!
This hack is really pretty easy to sew (much, much easier than the previous hack). Plus, I have a few tutorials that will help. I think this is a great dress for summer and it can even be worn in transitional months with a cardigan or a t-shirt underneath. You may even be able to wear it in colder months with leggings and turtleneck.
Button-back Square Neck Miri Tank Top – Pattern Hack
Today, I'm very excited to share a hack for my latest pattern, the Miri Tank. The Miri is a woven tank with a slight A-line shape, a bust dart in the side seam and is finished with a facing. View A features a rounded neck and armholes and view B has a v-neckline and squared off armholes and back neck edge. The basic features of the tank make it great for hacking and modifying.
